Preventative DENTISTRY

At Dr. Cade Pediatric Dentistry, we believe that preventative dental care is the best way to maintain oral health for a lifetime. Our preventative dental care services include a dental exam, teeth cleaning, dental x-rays, fluoride treatment, and sealants. We will do everything we can to help to prevent tooth decay and other oral health problems in your child.

Routine Exams & Cleanings

Our pediatric dental exam is a comprehensive evaluation of the teeth, gums, and oral tissues. It helps to identify any problems early on so they can be treated promptly. The teeth cleaning is a deep-cleaning that removes plaque and tartar from the teeth. We'll also teach you and your child how to brush properly at home so they can maintain a happy, healthy mouth!

Dental X-Rays

Dental X-rays do so much more than just detect cavities. We use X-rays to  see how your child’s teeth are developing and erupting, diagnose bone disease, evaluate an injury or plan orthodontic treatment. These X-rays allow us to take a deeper look at your child’s oral health and treat conditions that wouldn’t be detected during a routine cleaning or exam.

Fluoride & Sealants

We want  our patients to have access to grow up with healthy gums and teeth. The application of fluoride varnish is a first step in a child’s prevention of decay. Fluoride varnish is painted on the top and sides of each tooth with a small brush. It is sticky, but hardens once it comes in contact with saliva. Your child may feel the hardened varnish with their tongue, but will not be able to lick the varnish off.

A dental sealant is a substance that your pediatric dental office will apply to seal the teeth’s surface. Dental sealants are comprised of an FDA-approved plastic polymer that has a similar appearance and firmness to natural teeth.

In general, children are more prone to cavities than adults. They may  brush ineffectively for prolonged periods of time, and generally have less stringent oral health habits. Dental sealants and fluoride provide an extra layer of defense against the formation of cavities and tooth decay.
